Subject:Love Is The Altar
Time:7:46 pm.
New Angel POV fic that I'm actually really pleased with--of course, it WOULD be one of the most horribly depressing stories I've ever written :)

Title: Love is the Altar
Characters: Angel, Connor (Angel POV)
Rating: NC-17
Length: 5975 words
Spoilers: season 5 through You're Welcome
Warning: suffering, violence, drug use, horror, probable squick
Notes: Angstathon fic for queenofalostart. There are no happy endings here. And for all that, it is written very prettily. It's very pretty pain. Also, as this is rated NC-17, you will not find this story on ff.net.

Summary: “The soul is the place where we truly live, and that place is furnished with pain and rage, paint peeling like the tattered masks we wear.”

Subject:The Splintered Tomorrow
Time:3:40 pm.
Mood: accomplished.
The Final Part of my X-Men Epic Trilogy is now in progress and has been posted on my site (and ff.net) up to Chapter 4.

The Splintered Tomorrow - Part 3 of The Splintered Tomorrow Arc

MAIN CHARACTERS:
Rogue, Magneto, Iceman, Polaris, Colossus, Storm, Wolverine, Phoenix, Scarlet Witch, Madelyne, Irinee', Jean-Luc

SECONDARY CHARACTERS: Shadowcat, The Black Queen

OTHER CHARACTERS: There are tertiary characters, cameos, and of course, surprises!

RATING: PG-13

SUMMARY: Fourteen years since the apocalypse of the Shadow King, nearly seven years after Remy's death and Sinister's defeat, the human world has begun to rebuild and the future of all mutant kind hangs in the balance. Rogue and Magneto find themselves fighting on an entirely new battlefield to resurrect a long dead dream, and former villains and friends alike return to haunt the X-Men's lives, threatening to destroy their tentative alliance with the human world and tear the team apart while the twins' powers begin grow out of control. This story centers around Magneto, Rogue and her children, with shades of Gambit, though many other X-Men and members of various other X-Teams share their moments in the spotlight.

Status: This Book is a work in progress. Can be read without reading the others, though I highly recommend you read Part 1Death of a Dream and Part 2 The Resurrection Gauntlet first to get a sense of how this world has developed.

Continuity: This story takes place almost seven years after The Resurrection Gauntlet ends.

Notes: My writing style has matured a lot since writing the first two stories, and that will become obvious as soon as you begin reading. The style is ultimately the same in terms of storytelling, but with nuances that give it a slightly different flavor.

Subject:The End of Mortal Ground
Time:4:13 pm.
Mood: ecstatic.
Music:Stroke9 - Little Black Backpack.
Okay. I did it. It's up!

The final two chapters of Mortal Ground have been posted, beginning with Chapter 20.

Enjoy them. :) I know I did.

And guys, if any of you have been waiting until this was all over to give me a review, now is the time ;) LJ comments, reviews, and emails are cheerfully accepted!

Thank you so much to everyone who's helped me out through this. [info]right_as_rain and [info]debxena for beta'ing for me. You guys were great, and invaluable. [info]imation23, [info]dlgood, [info]antikate, [info]ludditerobot, Faith-and-Wesley-Rocks, and Carolyne Rosseau, your support and readership, comments and questions really made writing this worth while. Sometimes you guys were the only thing keeping me writing. I knew even when I was stuck that there were people enjoying the story and waiting to see what would happen, and patient as you all have been, you've been very motivational in keeping me on track. All of your suggestions have helped to improve the story, and all of your feedback was so very appreciated. Not only that, but some of you have become my good friends (or, in Kate's case, even better friends with me) because of it.

I did a more extensive thank you, credits and break down about my feelings and thought process on the story as an afterword following the final chapter, if anyone cares to read it.

It's been one hell of a ride. Thank you all for being there.

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Also, Jewel Tones: Five Faiths That Never Were Part 3, Emerald is up. In our world, Faith went to LA after the body switch with Buffy. In this one she discovers that no matter what path she takes away from Sunnydale, every road will lead to ruin. Rated R for seriously dark themes.

That's it for now.

Subject:Mortal Ground News & Snippet
Time:10:03 am.
Mood: accomplished.
I wrote like a banshee last night--can you write like a banshee? I dunno, but if you can, I did. I am now at 29 pages and the chapter is THISCLOSE to being done. In fact, it pretty much is done except for the polishing, and the end of the chapter needs some fleshing out. But... it's probably not going to happen today. And I'm going out of town this weekend. So that means the chapter won't be posted til early to mid next week. If you guys can hang in there, you'll have the whole climactic ending all in one piece. And then there will be the picking up of the pieces to follow *grin*

So, for all of you guys who've been waiting, here's a five page preview from the beginning of the chapter to hold you over til next week.

Chapter 19 snippet )

Heh. And it only gets worse from there.

"Five Faith's That Never Were, Part 2 - Ruby" has been added. Rated R, 8036 words: In our world, Faith came to Sunnydale after the death of her Watcher. In this 1930?s style story, she never did. Angel comes to the oldest parts of LA to track down the only living Slayer and finds far more than he ever bargained for. Rated R for angst, romance and general evil.

"Dig", a short 1000 word Spuffy story, set post-Chosen, has been added at allaboutspike.com, and will be added to my site shortly.

Mortal Ground, Chapter 19 is currently at 19 pages in length. I'm hoping to finish it and have it out by the end of the week. Very soon, I promise!

~Inner Beauty ( Willow/Giles - PG - wish challenge)~
For [info]gwynnega and [info]juliet_demarcus:

She used to wish she was popular. That she was pretty. That she wasn't a geek.

Then she met Buffy. And she was still a geek, but being a geek meant something new. It meant being brainy, being the person people looked to for help. She dyed her hair red, she changed. She got the boyfriend she'd always wanted, and eventually the woman she'd never known she wanted. But she never got the thing she wished for the most until after it seemed too late.

Giles had never looked at her like that before she tried to end the world.

~Inner Beauty II ( Willow/Giles - PG - wish challenge)~

England. Beautiful flat green fields of peace that offered her no comfort. England was the home of her sin, the home of her self-hatred. It was the antithesis of her evil, its innocence and peace drawing sharp contrast to her darkened, vengeful heart. It hurt, being here. It reminded her of what she wasn't, like a thin razor wire drawn over her soul.

She wished to be better, to be good again. Giles made her believe that she could be. He was so tender. He told her she had a choice.

Was it wrong that she wanted to kiss him?

___________________________________

~Inner Beauty Part III ( Willow/Giles - PG - wish challenge)~

England would never be her home, but as she slowly forged a link with its loamy earth, she found a kind of solace in it. With time, nature gave healing of spirit, but not of heart. She found that elsewhere.

She stood in the doorway and stared out over low green hills, and a pair of arms encircled her waist. She turned, and he touched her hair, kissed her mouth.

"What are you thinking?" he asked.

She smiled, kissed him again. "That I have nothing left to wish for."

England would never be home, but it was where Giles was.

Sunday 100 drabbles - Challenge: silver

~The Hands of Time (Angel/Buffy - PG - silver challenge)~

Silver.

Silver would have been the color of their wedding rings. The perfect compliment to her spun gold hair and her smooth, tawny skin.

Later, he thought that gold and silver would be perfect. Bands of yellow warmth twined with pale glittering beauty, like the gossamer threads that streaked her golden hair as she grew older.

And when at last her hair was completely silver, he gave up hopes of wedding bands and prayed for apocalypse, for the end of days and the reward he'd been promised so many years ago.

They buried her with all his other broken dreams.

~Portent ( Spike - PG - silver challenge )~

In the darkness of the seer's tent, Spike smiled. "So if I get him to feed on this gypsy girl..." he paused, chuckled mirthfully. "They'll give him a soul?"

The demon nodded, eyeing Spike nervously.

Spike ignored him, thinking. Lure them near the gypsy camp, point out the girl to Darla, drop a suggestion... so simple.

"I suppose you'll want to hurry off and warn your friend now?"

Spike laughed.

"I told you everything you wanted to know," the demon pleaded, backing away.

"Speech is silver," Spike said, advancing on the demon, face shifting, yellow eyes glaring. "But silence is golden."

___________________________________________

And in a bizarre twist of my brain--no wait, it's all [info]circe_tigana's fault! She wrote Xander/Dawn and it was evil and bad and wrong and... surprisingly riveting, and quite good. But being as she's busy with Spank, she put the rest of the story up for grabs and an evil idea took seed in my head and I HAD to write it. Took me about an hour and I did almost no revisions because I just had to get it out of my brain. So here's the beginning of Circe's Living, and here's my ending. Circe, thanks for letting me play in your exquisitely well written, if twisted, world ;) Your world rocks!

Other fic stuff? Well, Five Faith's Part 2, Ruby, is over halfway done. I'm working on Mortal Ground and it's coming along. Chapter 18 should be out by this weekend, hopefully. From there it's all plotted out completely, and so it's all downhill

Pairing: Spike/Angel
Timeframe: beginning of season 5,
Spoilers: based on speculation. No spoilers (that I'm aware of).

Visitations

The first time he heard the voice, he didn't recognize it.

"Bloody hell."

Angel heard the words plain as day, and he jumped as if someone had blown fire into his ear.

"Mr. Angel?" The young girl who was bringing in his coffee hesitated in the doorway, seeing his movement. "Are you all right?"

He glanced to one side, then the other, and finally found what he hoped was a reassuring smile for the girl (he couldn't quite bring himself to think of her as his assistant yet). "Oh, yeah. I'm uh, fine. Just thought I heard... someone."

"No one here but little old me," the girl said, regaining her smile. She set the cup down on his desk and turned, pausing. "You know, if you're hearing voices it probably just means you're working too hard. You should take a break."

"Right," he nodded automatically, mentally smirking at the thought of ever getting a 'break'. Still, he had been putting in a lot of hours, and coffee did make him jittery. He stretched in the oddly tinted sunlight that fell through his office window. Probably he was just hearing things.

Still, he turned his chair all the way around and had a look in all the corners of the room after she left. Just to be sure.

Not that he was paranoid or anything.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

The second time he heard the voice, he recognized it immediately. Smooth scotch, cigarettes and sarcasm all wrapped in a leather clad package that was forever burned into his brain like a mark of Cain.

"Oh, bugger all."

Subject:Mortal Ground Status
Time:12:37 pm.
Mood: sore.
Mortal Ground... will not be happening this week. I've had too much going on and I've finally decided that no writing is really going to get done til the kids are back in school. There's just too much going on, too many interruptions for me to focus. Plus, DragonCon this weekend. Next week will be devoted to finishing up Chapter 18.

And after Mortal Ground is finished, faithfic.com will be my next project. So anyone who's got good recommendations for fic featuring Faith, send 'em my way.
